Adaptation readiness level self-assessment test

This questionnaire evaluates your organization’s readiness to adopt sustainable practices in food packaging, focusing on Recycle and Reuse. Based on your responses, you will be classified into one of three levels (Rookie, Player, Most Valuable Player) for each competency.

The tool is designed to address businesses involved in either or both practices, with an option to indicate “Not Applicable (N/A)” where necessary.

Section 1: Commitment to Sustainability

1. Does your organization have a formal strategy or policies addressing the reduction of single-use plastics? 2. How frequently does your organization collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., recyclers, reuse system operators) to promote sustainable packaging solutions? 3. Are you committed to achieving specific targets for recycling and reuse as part of your sustainability goals?

Section 2: Recycle Practices

4. What percentage of your packaging products are designed for easy recycling? 5. Do you have partnerships with recyclers or recycling facilities? 6. How often does your organization test and adapt packaging designs to meet recycling requirements? 7. Does your organization use post-consumer recycled (PCR) content in your packaging?

Section 3: Reuse Practices

8. Do you offer reusable packaging solutions for your products? 9. What percentage of your product packaging is part of a return/reuse system? 10. Does your organization have systems in place to track reusable packaging? 11. Do you collaborate with other businesses or third-party operators to implement reusable packaging systems?

Section 4: Communication and Advocacy

12. Does your organization educate customers or business partners about recycling or reuse options for your packaging? 13. How often do you communicate sustainability achievements publicly? 14. Are you part of any industry initiatives or alliances to promote recycling and reuse practices?
