STOPP POLICY DIALOGUE WEBINAR HIGHLIGHTED EU RULES FOR RECYCLED PLASTICS IN FOOD CONTACT
On January 28, 2026, the STOPP Project hosted an online Policy Dialogue webinar focused on Regulation (EU) 2022/1616, which sets harmonised rules for recycled plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
The session was delivered by Plastics Recyclers Europe and presented by Alexandra Pereira, offering a practical and policy-oriented overview of the Regulation and its implications across the plastics value chain.
During the webinar, participants explored key aspects including the scope and objectives of the Regulation, compliance obligations and authorisation procedures, and the expected impacts on recycling technologies, market access and innovation. The discussion also addressed current challenges and opportunities for both industry and regulators as implementation progresses.
This event supported informed stakeholder dialogue and contributed to a shared understanding of how regulatory frameworks can enable safe, sustainable and circular plastic solutions in Europe.
