STOPP RESULTS PRESENTED AT MICRO2026, EUROPE’S LARGEST MICROPLASTICS CONFERENCE
STOPP was represented at MICRO2026, the 6th edition of the International Conference on Plastic Pollution, held in Cádiz, Spain, from 12 to 16 October. With more than 850 participants, it is the largest microplastics conference in Europe and brings together researchers and policymakers working on plastic pollution from macro to nano scale.
Vaibhav Budhiraja, PhD, from the Department of Polymer Chemistry and Technology at the National Institute of Chemistry (Kemijski inštitut) in Ljubljana, Slovenia, presented STOPP results in his talk “Polypropylene Fragments, Polylactic Acid Persists: Degradation of Disposable Cups”. The presentation compared how conventional and bio-based single-use cups degrade, offering new evidence to inform more sustainable packaging choices.
